Our Mission

Same Boat Theater Collective's mission is to bring innovative, meaningful theatrical experiences about environmental issues to as diverse a local audience as possible, with the goal of generating a critical mass of individuals to act against environmental degradation.  We aim to change the current narrative by telling stories about our biosphere for all species who live here.

We create new works for the stage that explore themes of environmental justice as it pertains to our lives as global citizens and site-specific performances that allow audiences to connect sensually and emotionally with the natural world while exploring stories about that world. We partner with communities to develop performance narratives to raise awareness, generate funds and resources, and engender activism. In this way, we seek to move audiences from passive observers to active environmentalists, and to bring to life the impacts of environmental degradation in a way that is theatrical, engaging, inclusive and immediately actionable.

Same Boat Theater Collective is honored to be a participant in the inaugural PlayGround Innovator Incubator program.
